Short list

Cookie policy

Staydoc uses no tracking cookies. The tools set no cookies at all. If you sign in, two cookies keep sign-in working, and that's the whole list.

Cookies we set

Only our account service sets cookies, and only when you sign in. Both are strictly necessary for signing in, can't be read by page scripts, are sent only over HTTPS, and never go to another company.

Cookies set when you sign in
CookieWhat it doesHow long it lasts
__Host-sd_sessionKeeps you signed in. Holds a random key; we store only a scrambled (hashed) form of it.Until you sign out, 30 days without use, or 90 days after signing in
sd_oauthProtects sign-in from forgery while you go to Google and back.10 minutes, while you sign in

Other things kept in your browser

These aren't cookies: they stay on your device and are never sent to us. The site uses them so it works the way you set it, and offline.

What the site keeps in your browser
ItemWhat it doesHow long it lasts
Preferences (staydoc.preferences.v1)Theme, layout, motion, favourite tools, and recently used tools only if you turn that on.Until you change them or clear site data
Signed-in note (staydoc.signedIn)A yes-or-no note, so the header can show "Account" without asking our server. No personal data.Until you sign out
Offline copyThe site and the engines the tools use, so they work without a connection.Replaced by each update; engines until no longer used
Shared filesFiles you share to the installed app, kept on your device until you choose a tool.Deleted once a tool opens them

No third-party cookies

There are no analytics, ads, social media buttons, embedded videos or fonts from other sites, and the site's security policy stops pages from loading anything from another site. When you choose to sign in, you visit Google's own sign-in page, where Google's cookies and privacy policy apply.

Why there's no cookie banner

Laws such as the EU and UK rules on cookies require consent for cookies that aren't needed for a service you ask for. Ours are needed for signing in, which you ask for, and what we keep in your browser holds only settings you chose. If we ever add anything else, we will ask you first.

How to clear them

  • Signing out ends your session and removes the sign-in cookie.
  • Preferences lets you change your settings and forget recently used tools.
  • Your browser's settings can delete everything this site keeps, including the offline copy. If you have installed Staydoc, open it once afterwards before sharing files to it; the privacy proof explains why.
